Current research: Sensors

We’re working on building an Enderman.

Goal: Have two sets of LEDs, green + purple. Turn green on in normal conditions and turn on purple if someone is close to the enderman.

Main Components:

Time of Flight Sensor

Can ToF be used to detect when someone comes close to the project?

Step 1: Get the sensor working, print the distance and check for varying distances.

Step 2: Turn on one LED based on sensor

Step 3: Build the LED circuit

Step 4: Toggle the LED groups based on distance.

Note: The libraries used in our project had to be updated to work.

We were able to successfully toggle light based on the distance sensor (yay!). A few points:

When using the Ultrasonic sensor, we realized the sensor wasn’t working at all and the pulseIn was taking a pulse reading from the circuit. Here’s documentation of when we all found it a bit spooky, in true halloween spirit.
